An unseen assailant attacks Ronette Pulaski in her hospital bed. Blackie holds Audrey Horne hostage at One-Eyed Jack’s, while Jacques Reanult’s brother, Jean, makes plans to blackmail Ben Horne for her release. Donna Hayward meets Laura’s reclusive friend, Harold Smith. James Hurley and Maddy Ferguson become closer, much to Donna’s dismay. Deputy Andy Brennan is shocked to learn that Lucy Moran has also been seeing Dick Tremayne. Shelly Johnson decides not to testify against her husband Leo. The One-Armed Man gives Agent Cooper another clue from the giant. Nadine Hurley wakes up from her coma, super-charged and somewhat regressed. Doctor Jacoby undergoes hypnosis, and then leads Agent Cooper and Sheriff Truman to Jacques' killer. Donna discovers Laura Palmer’s secret diary.
